Think twice, then consider another way to get your remodeling done, not by LOWES!
Thank you for the comments, it has now almost been a year and Lowes is still trying to skirt the issue.

Yes, I have had some done and may have some more done in the future. Sounds like things were handled in your case within the law. Low quality specs you mention by DuPont sound worse than anything Lowe’s did. Bankruptcy is not uncommon among subcontractors, so to say it conveniently happened I don’t feel is necessarily fair. If you feel like you have been unfairly treated, you could consult with the Better Business Bureau, some consumer groups, or hire a consumer lawyer to review if you have been unfairly treated by anyone involved.
Perhaps one should see a sample of a job done by the parties involved and/or check into the reputation of possible sub-contractors before signing off on have a major job done. Hmmmmmmm
The fact is, if you had hired the subcontractor directly you would still be in the same position. I don’t work for Lowes but I don’t think they can be faulted for another company going out of business.
If Lowes had any way in the world of knowing the stability of that subcontractor it would have been in their best interest to quit working with them entirely just to save their own company name.
Call Lowes main office in Wilkesboro, NC. You got the cabinets, the countertop and the labor from them and if the manager is giving you crap, go way above their heads. I have never had problems with stuff from lowes and if the stuff I get is not good, they will take it back. They put it in, essentially, they should take it out.
The guarantee their contracted labor. Stand on their butts a bit. I would just call the number in NC and ask for presidential complaints.
I don’t use labor from Lowes or Home Depot. It is too expensive. But then, of course, I do some installs myself and I do those things myself.
But you bought it all from lowes, including labor, and they are responsible.
If that does not work, go into small claims court and get a judgement against the store. If the claim is too large, get a lawyer and sue them for the cost of the materials, the mental anguish, and the cost of the labor - plus lawyer’s fees.
If you have not paid the bill, contest it. If you have a Lowes account, as I do, contest it with Lowes. If you are using a bank card, contest it with them. Just stand in their faces wearing spiked track shoes.
If you paid Lowes and then they paid the contractor, Lowes is responsible to solve the problems. You really should contact their corporate headquarters in writing to the customer relations department to get results. Good luck.
