When I was a newly qualified surgeon I went to a surgical instrument supplier to buy myself a set of instruments that I would be able to use on my first operations. I thought it was very important to have my own set of equipment, and the surgical supplier who sold them to me agreed that it was a really good thing to do. However he also gave me some advice to buy something that I had not considered, and that was a couple of Surgical Loupes, which, he said, would really help me when I came to do a very difficult operation and I needed to see even small parts in extreme detail.
