they will do cuts to your specs but I think only the first 3 to 5 are free, after that there is a fee, maybe a buck a cut.

Home Depot does.

They are not the millers of the wood just retailers.
No they do not make and cut the wood.

But they will cut it to length at a cost.

I know that Home Depot will. I do not know about Lowes, but it makes sense if they want to compete.

you can cut it yourself or you can have them cut it for you. home depot gives you 2 free cuts, then .25 each cut there after. If you know how to use a circular saw or hand saw, it would be benifical to you to cut it yourself

Yes, and they do it for free and very well if i may say so. :]

You get so many cuts free, then they charge you after that. I don’t know the rates..

yeah they do that its pretty handy to make it fit in your car

They will cut the lumber up to 3 or 4 times without charging. Then each additional cut is about 50 cents. They will only do rough cuts, meaning they will cut lumber to the length you need, but they won’t be exactly precise to a tee. They will not cut at an angle or vertically along the board. Just straight across to shorten the lengths.

Yes they do. They do a certain number for free then they charge you a small fee per cut of more than that. But I have been there before when it has not been busy and have gotten more cuts for free. Be nice to the cutting guy and go when it is not busy.

Yes they will (if you can find someone to help.) Generally they’ll only do straight cuts to length and I think you’re limited to one or two cuts per board. I once bought about 15, 12 ft boards and they cut them all into 6 footers.

Home Depot will if you want to wait 3 hours.

cuesoccer24 on 19 September, 2009 at 12:08 pm #

yes home depot will cut the wood that you buy from them.

dalerule on 22 September, 2009 at 10:21 pm #

yes they will but only straight cuts for length to the nearest inch. and they will cut plywood to nearest inch either direction. their is a charge after 2 cuts as a policy. large beams they have stopped cutting in California after they found a supplier who supplies various lengths.

Of course, this is simply a customer service, so you can haul the wood home in your small car or van. Don’t expect to take your blueprint for a bookshelf and have them cut all the pieces to exact size for you!

Home Depot does if for sure — Lowe’s, I’ve never had it done there nor do I remember seeing a saw at either of the 2 Lowe’s local to me.

Home Depot used to do up to 2 cuts free, then 25cent for additional cuts.
They will not do precision cutting, once cut — it is yours (I think this means the same — you won’t get a refund if it doesn’t meet your application. They get it pretty close though, as long as your tolerances are not very precise.
They will not rip-cut either (ex: cutting a 2 x 4 to make (2) 2 x 2’s)
