When I go to Home Depot and Lowes, it looks like all the boys working there are wearing Abercrombie and Fitch or American Eagle. The usual uniform is cargo shorts and a polo shirt. These clothes look comfortable and good on the guys, but they are expensive so I would not necessarily wear them to work at these places. There are too many opportunities to ruin these clothes. Also, how do these guys afford these clothes on HD and Lowe’s paychecks? So guys, why do you wear them there? Girls, you can answer to if you work there.

I don’t know what Home Depot & Lowes you’re going to, but the employees I see definitely don’t dress that way.
My sister works at home depot and the only rule is that guys have to wear shirts with collars… girls have to wear either collars or V-neck shirts… they dont have to be from expensive stores…
At the HD and Lowes where I live, they are not wearing Abercrombie! They are wearing wal mart clothes!!!
I happen to work at Lowe’s and this is in a fact true what you are saying. They wear them apparently because they feel as if you never know who is gonna enter your store so you must be fashionable at all times.
Bc we try to impress the girls with our nice clothes bc it looks better than polo.
It depends on the role of the associate. If its a specialist/designer then you may see a more sophisticated style of dress. These are the associates that deal with the high dollar projects. Managers also need to maintain a high level of dress, as to promote a professional image (no jeans, maybe Dockers, and a collared shirt).Other associates may be “slumming” it in jeans or shorts during approved months and the required collared shirt.
