Went to a commercial window and door guy. He wants $1100. Depot and Lowes have them for 3-400/ The door guy has the style/color we want but the others don’t.

We have a few independent hardware/lumber stores in our area that also carry windows and doors, maybe check and see if you have any independent guys in your area that might be able to help you out. If you have the model number of the door, they may be able to order it for you. One thing, won’t Home Depot or Lowe’s order the door in the style and color that you want? They usually are very accomodating.
Have you talked to a sales person at Lowes or Home Depot?
I have to special order my doors, and Lowes does this for me. It’s a bit more expensive but I have no choice.
If you can’t get the help you need, try going to the web sight of the companies that make their doors.

try menard’s or hobo hardware. that’s you have those stores in your area.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there is a reason that Lowes and HD are cheapper….The doors are generally garbage. A good door company will have much better jambs(sides and top frame) and thresholds(bottom sill) and will drill one or two holes in the door as you require for deadbolts and handles. Go to a local place that is highly recommended.(get referrals)
Check out all lumber yards in you area. You have a problem called I want it just this way. How important is it? Is it worth double or triple the cost?
i agree with mustbcrazy… slows and home repo suck. support your local merchants. most big box stores dont pay property taxes, dont buy girl scout cookies, boy scout tom watt, or FFA fruit.

If you have one, try Grossmans Bargain Outlet. Their stock varies in quality depending on what their buyers can get. But if you look around you can get some very nice doors (and other things) there.
